This meeting will cover planning for the upcoming year's events so we can get reservations in place well in advance of the actual events. We will meet at the church at 6:00 PM.
Monday, 4 – Regular troop meeting with the STEM trailer! - we will have the STEM trailer on-site at the church available to all! All Scouts will need to be in full field uniforms for this event as we will be hosting AoLs who are checking out troops in the area. We will start the evening with a quick troop meeting to allow the STEM crew to get set up then will head outside for the fun!
Monday, 11 – Regular troop meeting - we will continue work on advancement and preparations for the upcoming camp out at Klondike Park.Â
Friday, 15 to Sunday, 17 - Camping and fishing at Klondike Park
Camping - the troop will be camping at Klondike Park, just south of Augusta, MO. There is fishing available in the small lake at the center of the park.
Gear - please make sure to plan for variable weather, especially mild to warm during the day and potentially chilly at night (it can get down to the upper 50s and lower overnight) as it is late mid-May.
Make sure to bring variable weather clothing, rain gear, good hiking boots WITH SOCKS and water bottles.Â
For all Scouts and adults we recommend a good mid-weight sleeping bag and a blanket as well as a good sleep pad for comfort.Â
Please review your Scout handbook for more details on required and nice to have camp gear.Â
Feel free to bring your fishing gear!
Don't forget a flashlight / headlamp and batteries!Â
We also recommend bringing board games / cards / other games that do not require electricity to share with the troop.
Food - We will be PATROL COOKING for this event! We recommend Scouts and adults bring personal plates / cups / bowls / utensils in case we run short on things. Please consider bringing an insulated mug for hot cocoa / coffee so we can avoid using Styrofoam cups.
Medications - remember to have ALL prescribed medications and / or dietary supplements in their original packaging with explicit dosing instructions included. The information listed on the bottle / package can be very important in an emergency. Also, all medications need to be checked in with the designated adult leader on site for safe keeping.
The cost for the weekend is $30
Reminder to leave anything you do not want broken / lost / stolen at home as the troop IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for personal gear
The adults on site will have mobile phones available in case of emergency.
We will meet at the John Calvin Church parking lot on Friday night, 15th at 6:00 PMÂ to get everyone checked in and get on the road quickly.Â
Please make sure everyone is on time so we can get to camp at a reasonable hourÂ
and get set up!
